Bella Blue is a magical flouncy, blue little girl's dress who spends her days in Taylor's Department Store, longing to go home with a special little girl — one who will take her to birthday parties and tea parties.
Losing patience, she starts planning her escape to the outside world. Bella Blue's Big Adventures begin when a big gust of wind blows open the door and she is whisked away over snow-capped mountains, gurgling creeks and checkerboard farms searching for adventures.
Come with her as she finally lives in a world she once only dreamed of. Bella Blue's Big Adventures is the first in a series of books about Bella Blue, the magical dress, and was inspired by the journey of a real dress through several generations of little girls in the author's family.
The inspiration for Bella Blue came from a now 50 year old, flouncy, blue little girl's dress that the author's sister, Leslie wore in a wedding. This dress has been worn in turn by the author's daughter, Julie, and recently by one of her granddaughters by the name of Zoe.
The story portrays Bella Blue's feelings of wanting to belong and her desire for adventure. With a generous sprinkle of imagination, Bella Blue comes alive and shares adventures with the little girls she meets along the way.
Meet author, Vivian Stearns-Kohler. She has worn many hats in life...mother of 3, grandmother of 8 granddaughters, entrepreneur and, lately, writer, artist, & budding pianist.
She attributes her intrepid fearlessness for trying new things to her mother, who encouraged and supported her all through her "I want to be a/an... archeologist, rock collector, butterfly collector, stamp collector, ballerina, and artist phases. With her mother's passing, her husband, Fred, took up the mantle of "head cheerleader" and champions her many interests. The author lives with her husband and her miniature (but vociferous) Yorkshire Terrier, Cloe, in the southwestern United States.
